Slocan Ramblers
Wednesday, February 19, 8pm

“JS Bach’s Long Walk in the Snow”
Thursday, March 6, 4pm
Join us for a coming-of-age odyssey that combines storytelling and beautiful live music. At the age of 20, before he began composing, Johann Sebastian Bach was a rebellious music teacher and church organist who, after a street fight with one of his students, took a leave of absence and walked 400km north to meet with a wise old teacher, who became one of Bach’s greatest influences.
Raine Hamilton trio
Friday, April 4, 7:30pm
Raine Hamilton’s trio performs resonant, acoustic chamber folk music with an otherworldly edge, which has been described as sounding like a string quartet + Sarah Harmer + Joni Mitchell. The music is a hybrid of the classical tradition of string quartet chamber music, with singer songwriter folk.
Miguelito Valdés band
Friday, April 25, 7:30pm
Combining African and Indigenous rhythms and dances, European harmonies and fierce improvisation, Cuban music tells the story of a country that was influenced by the world and mixed all that jazz for a fired-up sound of their own.
Jessica McMann
Saturday, May 17, 2pm
Jessica McMann is an Alberta-based Cree (Cowessess, SK), multi-disciplinary artist. A classically trained flutist, her work fuses together traditional language with her own contemporary experiences as an Indigenous woman and Two-Spirit person. Her latest album Prairie Dusk weaves a soundscape that focuses on land-based creation and ideas of connection, disconnection, and home.

About Concerts Denman
Concerts Denman is one of several committees under the Arts Denman umbrella, a non-profit organization registered under the B.C. Charity Act. It is staffed by volunteers. Concerts Denman has brought well-crafted performing arts events to our remote rural community of Denman Island for over 30 years. We present events from a wide spectrum including classical, world, rock, electronic, bluegrass, reggae, ska, Balkan, and so much more. Musicians come to our hidden away island in the woods to enrich our community with a dose of international culture, showing touring musicians what a small community can put together. Our goal is to bring all members of our community together and change their lives for the better.
